Social Mission
WashEasy Dishware Cleaning Service is a social enterprise established under the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. WashEasy creates open employment opportunities and on-the-job training for the people with disabilities (PWDs) through providing efficient, professional and high-quality centralized dishware cleansing services for F&B clients.
Business Model
Out of 26 employees, 20 of them are people-with-disabilities. Together, they operate 2 production lines of dishware cleaning machine in the 4000 sq. ft. factory every day. Our core service is cleaning and sterilizing used dishware from elderly homes, NGOs, restaurants and food factories etc. Our operation team collects and delivers the dishware to the clients’ locations on a daily basis. WashEasy also provides on-site dishware cleaning for kitchens and restaurant chains. The aim is to lessen the problem of frontline manpower shortage and to reduce our clients’ operation costs.
Founding Team
WashEasy was founded by a vocational rehabilitation service team from the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals with the support from “Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities through Small Enterprise” project in 2015.
Social Impact
According to the Hong Kong Poverty Situation Report on Disability 2013, there are 179,900 people with intellectual disability who are at their working age, among which 22.4% of them are living below the poverty line. Not only do they find it difficult to find a job, but they also face discrimination in the workplace.
We created job opportunities and training for more than 30 people-with-disabilities over the last 3 years and helped lessen the financial burden of their family.
WashEasy helps them to integrate with the job market by providing on-the-job training of basic working skills such as: communication, cooperation, attendance, basic problem-solving skills and occupational safety.
